About Us

West Valley Environmental Services LLC (WVES) is a newly-formed company comprised of four companies – URS Corporation, Jacobs Engineering Group, Environmental Chemical Corporation (ECC), and Parallax – with extensive experience conducting environmental cleanup at Department of Energy (DOE) sites across the United States. This team has a winning combination that delivers significant site knowledge from its Washington Division of URS component, combined with a fresh perspective from Jacobs, ECC and Parallax.

WVES was awarded a four-year contract by DOE to continue the cleanup of facilities at the West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP) on June 29, 2007. Contract transition began July 1 and concluded on August 30, 2007. WVES assumed management of the WVDP effective September 1, 2007. During this four-year contract period, WVES will . . .

  • Decontaminate the Main Plant Process Building, Remote Handled Waste Facility, and the Vitrification Facility.
  • Process and ship low-level waste and Transuranic waste off site.
  • Deactivate, decontaminate and remove additional facilities except for:
    • RHWF
    • Vitrification Facility
    • Main Plant Process Building
    • High-Level Waste (HLW) Canister Storage Facility
    • Provide safe interim storage of HLW canisters

Who’s Who at the West Valley Demonstration Project

U.S. Department of Energy – Leads the nuclear cleanup efforts at the 200-acre site.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority – Owns the 200-acre West Valley Demonstration Project site and an additional 3,145 acres that surround the WVDP.
